I have been a bit of an ocean liner nerd since later in my childhood; starting, of course, with the RMS 'Titanic'. I badgered my parents into taking me on a cruise in 1989, when I was 13. They chose the MS 'Skyward'; which was a great trip. However, the 'Skyward' was neither a former ocean liner nor the then-largest ship in the world. So, I changed tactic and dropped a lot of hints, eventually convincing the parentals to take me on the SS 'Norway' the following year. They couldn't really blame me, though. It was they who took me along on their cruise aboard the MS 'Mikhail Lermontov' when I was six months old. Imprinting and all that... Science! I then went with my sister on the 'Norway' again in 1991. That was followed by a long gap (save for an overnight on the ferry MS 'Spirit of Tasmania' in 2001 and a visit to the 'Queen Mary' in 2015 (a stretch, I know)) until I went on my next cruise, on the MS 'Celebrity Reflection' in 2016-17. Next up is MS 'Discovery Princess' in 2022.
