January 2014 - Liberty of the Seas to Caribbean - Western
The ship was clean and well maintained. Staff was always present wiping down railings etc. Cabins were spotless, All the staff was very accomodating. On the first night discovered that someone had jimmied the lock on the cabin and the deadbolt didnt work, i think before we got there. Maintinance was very prompt in making repairs even though it was midnight when we discovered it.The food was predicable and mostly good in the main dining, DONT Order the Manhattan Strip steak, it was very "tough", stick with the Chef's selections.Windjammer was typical buffet good breakfast/ok lunch, didnt ever eat dinner there. I was also happy to see that Formal Night is nearly dead.Only saw 2 tuxes, a few sport coats, but mostly business casual.. yea!!! i dont want to wear a tie on vacation. Entertainment was very good, ice show was a must see, 70's night was fun if you're into that sort of music, married couples game was a huge hit, but the Best was Tony Tillman....fantastic showman. The Comedian was so, so, can't even remember his name.
Two complaints, on the pool deck. There is absolutely no enforcement of the "no saving" lounge chair rules that are posted. People would "claim" a spot with a magazine and towel @ 8am and they would only actually occupy the space for a couple primetime hours. Deck patrol just ignored them, it was a big issue on sea days. Other problem was that the 3 pool bars were horribly understaffed,and/or slow, a 30plus minute wait for an adult beverage was not uncommon.(maybe due to the drink packages?) Suprisingly there was very limited pool service except for the drink of the day hawkers.
Having never been to Labadee, it would have been nice if we were informed to bring a towel from the ship or maybe they could have handed them out as we disembarked.Once on the island we had to go all the way back to the ship, deck 11 for a towel. ridiculous.
