MSC Divina.....Cruising with an Italian Touch!

Overall, this is a wonderful Cruise. I had absolutely no complaints. My wife didn't like the fact that every announcement was made in several languages. BUT let my reiterate....The ENTERTAINMENT was excellent...the best ever.

Norwegian Escape

June 2016 - Norwegian Escape to Caribbean - Eastern

"The Norwegain Escape is truly.....an Escape from the ordinary!"

Cruising is like LIFE itself....you experience some good things and you experience some  not so good things.  As you become a more seasoned "cruiser", you inevitably begin to make comparisons between cruise lines, the ships, the amenities, the food, the pool deck, the entertainment, the service and the list goes on.  Well, after making all those comparisons, the Norwegian Escape rises to the top of the list. The one category that exceeded every other cruise that we've been on in the past FORTY years was the customer service.  It was absolutely without doubt.... EXCEPTIONAL!   Every single staff member, from the cabin steward to the Captain, did whatever they could to make sure that this cruise was the most pleasurable experience you've ever had at sea....AND it was!  Even the associates at the guest services desk endeavored to do their best to help you.  Yep, I did say, "The guest services desk"!  A place that I've been many times, as I'm sure many others have as well, ....hoping but not expecting a satisfactory outcome. Well, surprise, surprise. Jessa, the guest services desk associate went out of her way to honor my request.  Truthfully, every Norwegian staff member did their job enthusiastically and with an honest smile on their faces.  It was obvious that they did their job with a true desire to please the passenger, not simply because it was their job.   Here's a really nice touch... Staff members were outside the ship dancing with music playing to welcome you back onto the ship as you returned from visiting the islands.  AND even more special was the line of staff members outside the ship bidding you a farewell and thanking you for having cruised with them, as you disembarked!   The ship itself was absolutely beautiful. There were more than enough activities going on everyday to please anyone's fancy.  The entertainment was "Top Notch"!  The food was what you would expect on a cruise. It was good and plentiful.  Maybe too good, we found ourselves "grazing" a lot more than we usually do on a cruise. We loved this cruise......and we know you will too!   Dr. Dennis & Kim Harkins   PS It was our very first time to Tortola.....simply....Paradise!

Regal Princess

November 2015 - Regal Princess to Caribbean - Eastern

Fun, Sun, Sand and Beaches with a touch of sophistication.....on The Regal Princess

Certainly, a touch above some of the other cruises we've been on. We would have to say a bit more sophisticated (with children still being able to find it enjoyable) than other cruise lines. When it comes to preparing, cooking and serving food on cruise ships for thousands of people simultaneously, one can expect it to be average at best. However, quality and presentation of the food on the Regal Princess was without doubt better than most cruise lines. The entertainment was also a step above the other cruise lines (but not exceptional as it was on the MSC line).

Norwegian Epic

November 2013 - Norwegian Epic to Caribbean - Eastern

An "Epic" Cruise!

The Epic is a beautiful ship with all the amenities you need. The shows were wonderful, the food was good and the service was above average. The entertainment staff on the Epic did a great job getting passengers involved in fun activities.

DrDennis's Tips

Nassau, Bahamas - Can you say, "Straw Market". Not much to do there unless you like getting 50 to 75% off stuff that was really marked up 150% to begin with. Visiting Atlantis is nice, but unless you're willing to fork over $50.00 to sit on their beach, there's not much to do there either. We decided to take a tour from local vendors to Love Beach. We can't imagine when this beach last saw LOVE....it was run down, desolate and a complete waste of time. The water was way too rocky to even stand up in, no less swim in. It was a waste of time and money. We went back to where the ship was docked and walked over to a local beach which was nice. We then spent some time at the local Dunkin Donuts there and enjoyed a nice cappuccino and their free Wi-Fi.
Cozumel, Mexico - Looking at those Mexican ruins....reminded me of my college dorm!
Ocho Rios, Jamaica - Duns River Falls....not much else to say, except "Just Do It!" What is the better than climbing up a waterfall watching strangers holding hands. Man, this is really fun!
MSC Divina MSC Divina - If you like wine, then attend the Wine Tasting on the MSC Divina. It is money well spent. I paid $9.00 (may be slightly more or less). You will sample 6 wines (along with bread, cheese and fruit to cleanse your palate). I attended the Wine Tasting 2 days (wines different on those days). It is done about 2 pm on sea days so you won't miss anything). This is a good time to sample some wines you may not have known about and also a good time to get friendly with other passengers (it's well attended).
Norwegian Epic Norwegian Epic - You just gotta go to the Ice Bar (even if you're not a drinker) It is really cool....I REALLY mean it. In fact, it's ICE cold....the bar, the seats and the glasses that you drink from. Dress up in a nice warm parker and get in there!
San Juan, Puerto Rico - El Yunque (The Rainforest) is a must see. I lived in Puerto Rico for a year and never got to see it. It's absolutely picturesque! If you don't go on any excursions, don't worry. Just walking through Old Juan is great. A lot of history and charm there!. You'll really enjoy your stay. I'm glad that I got to take my wife Kim to this beautiful island before Hurricanes Irma and Maria hit. The devastation caused by these hurricanes will take time to repair, but the spirit and the resiliency of the Puerto Rican people will make it happen. Probably sooner than later. So please consider this as part of your itinerary for your upcoming cruises.
Tortola, British Virgin Islands - A must see....."Cane Garden Bay". They call it "the jewel of the BVI". I now know why. It is absolutely stunning. Yep, Megan's Bay is beautiful, but Cane Garden Bay is magnificent. Don't miss it!
Miami, Florida - Live in Florida, so Miami has lost its charm for us. But certainly for visitors, it's a must!
Norwegian Escape Norwegian Escape - Absolutely do not forget to go to the very top of the ship (19th deck...maybe?), where you'll find spacious sunning areas and two large hot tubs that never seemed to be used. Considering the ship holds 4500 plus or minus passengers, it was very odd but delightful to find this area "uninhabited".
