September 2015 - 7 Night Western Caribbean (Galveston Roundtrip) Cruise on Navigator of the Seas
We're sticking with Carnival in the future
We took a cruise on Carnival 2 years ago that visited each of the same locations so we are able to compare apples to apples.
This cruise felt more like a "shopping cruise" than anything. We were constantly bombarded with "buy, buy, buy".
The drink packages were ridiculous. Want a coke? Better buy a drink package or you'll get a heck of a surprise at the end. My wife upgraded her drink package so she could get fresh-squeezed OJ in the morning. $150 for the week.
Me being not upgraded got the most watered down OJ and apple juice I've ever seen. It's like they showed an apple to the water and deemed it apple juice.
The food does not flow so freely either. Any food choices besides the Windjammer or Sapphire restaurant and you're paying extra. I really feel like RC took a page from the airlines playbook. Nickel and dime time.
None of the ship-food was remarkable. The flavors were bland and we got to where we just did not look forward to eating on the ship. We did not pay $25/person to eat at the Mexican restaurant so cannot comment on that.
Overall the staff were very friendly and helpful.
