Started cruising on my 5th wedding anniversary and go every 5 years. I definitely want to go more often.
June 2009 - 7 Night Alaska Inside Passage (Seattle roundtrip) Cruise on Golden Princess
April 2004 - 7 Night Mexican Riviera (Los Angeles roundtrip) Cruise on Vision of the Seas
Stayed at the Double Tree in Sand Pedro and got the parking package so we could leave our car there for the 15-day trip. Well worth it since the car was safe and it's $18/day to park at the port anyway. Ended up being about a $90 room on the water when you take in the parking cost.
Just walked around Lahaina and shopped and took at taxi down the road to the Marriott resort to relax.
Nothing to do but shop, felt safer on the ship and didn't want to see beggars
John with Kauai Island Shuttle was awesome. Took us to the North Shore and saw two waterfalls close up.
Next time we'll go to Kona. Volcanoes National Park wasn't as cool as I thought it would be and our tour booked through hawaiicruiseexcursions.com took us to a bunch of gift shops instead of places to see/learn.
Great tour with Roland at tourswithlocals.com -- he was the best. Saw the whole island and was very pleased with the long day in Oahu.
Board earlier than advertised, carry the bare minimum, but questionable items you don't want to haggle with the crew about (power strips especially). We would have bought an oceanview and then waited to get the balcony upgrade offer to get a better room at a decent price. It was difficult for me to keep good water on hand so the soda package was awesome and convenient since there are bars everywhere, but you had to go to deck 14 to get water. Some clubs had water, but would run out quickly.
Stayed on the ship, so I had lots of fun ;). I heard most people shop for jewelry and vanilla extract, but the ship still had plenty of things to do and no lines!
The tender operation was sketchy and took forever to get on shore. Just walked the shops and took a taxi to the Marriott vacation club resort to check for a future trip
John from Kauai Island Tours was awesome and he was a local guide, born and raised. Beautiful beaches and saw where famous people owned property. Found a good food truck for lunch
Got a tour through tours by locals.com and Roland was the best. Saw Pearl Harbor and the whole island in. 8 hours. He even took us to a local shave ice that most tourists don’t find, Wailoas
Bought a tour through hawaiicruiseexcursions.com and our tour guide was ok, but most of the stops were gift shops and the volcano was a little underwhelming. Check YouTube for all your stops first to make sure they are interesting enough to purchase
Boarding was smooth and ate some nice snacks in the buffet before we had to muster for our safety brief. We could have boarded way earlier than advertised
