August 2016 - Anthem of the Seas to Bermuda
We have a few cruises, most of them with RCCL. We were looking forward to a birthday celebration. Nice easy drive to Bayonne (no airfare, and reasonable parking fees). The ship is quite large, but the layout is not well-done. Unlike the Explorer and Oasis class ships, this ship has asymmetrical corridors, which can lead to nowhere. Most of the cabins on deck six are obstructed views. Deck six is great however, because most of the activities and restaurants are below (decks 3 - 5). You have to take the elevator up to deck 14 in order to get more fun (decks 6 - 13 are major passenger cabin decks). The food ranged from excellent (wife LOVED the lamb everyplace it was served) to blah (Jamies Italian is overrated). Lots of activities and shows, most were typical cruise line stuff, but Two70 is a technical marvel, and the Led Zep cover band was supposedly brilliant. Because of the size, it never feels crowded. The only complaint was the muster drill, which was held indoors and VERY disorganized, bordering on claustrophobic. But the fun begins when muster drill ends! Bermuda is a wonderful place, and we will definitely return. Even with two days to explore, there was not enough time. It is cleaner, better organized and more expensive than most Caribbean ports, but worth it!
