Norwegian Sea

Norwegian Sea

Sail date:

I am writing this letter in an attempt to convey what my likes and dislike are with the Norwegian Sea.We departed from New York City on August 19th. The itinerary was a New England cruise. I live in NYC, so it was not necessary to get an air connection. I left my house at 1:00am and was on the boat by 2:30. The embarkation is nothing short of easy and painless. No lines, no hassle. There was even a violinist playing at the gangway! The rooms were a little small, but there was plenty of storage space. The bathroom shower was really small. I felt the need to vote when I pulled the curtain (actually a voting booth is slighlty larger). The public areas were wide and open. The gift shop and casino were larger than they were on the last boat I was on. The pool deck was spacious and there was hardly ever a need to search for a chair. There seemed to always be some sort of BBQ going on as well as a soft serve ice cream parlor. This was a cruise that offered freestyle dining. I was a bit skeptical about this method, but was pleasantly suprised. There was never a wait for the dining rooms, and we varied the times of dining from 6 to as late as 9. The waiting staff was phenomenal. The food was great. My father in law is on a special diet, and we found that this was not a challange. The ports of call were great! Halifax-Bar Harbor-Boston-Martha's Vineyard-Newport. We tendered 3 times but this was a very organized procedure. I only took one of their shore excursions as they were a bit pricey. I booked the others on my own and paid 1/2 the price. The entertainment was very pleasant. The Broadway shows and comedians were quite enjoyable and Las Vegas-style. I was waiting for confusion as we entered NYC, but they had a computer print-out under my door by 5am. No fussing with tipping envelopes as they added a service charge each day of $10 for adults and $5 for children. It was a very simple and innovative method that ran smooth as silk. The boat docked by 8:30 and we had our luggage in hand by 9:30. Overall, this was a very pleasant and enjoyable experince for my family. I would consider this cruise line again!Liz CosseanNYC, New YorkEOrrei@aol.com
