Celebrity Summit

June 2014 - Celebrity Summit to Bermuda

Wonderful Bermuda Cruise

Concierge 3-room 8126, 2 adults (late 40's) and a 13 yr. old boy. We had the free drink package. We live in rural PA, we vacation about 1x a year.

Our room was a perfect balcony, plenty of room and places to put things away. The only issue with space would be when the comfortable couch was made for our son, very hard to get to the balcony. Bathroom was fine space wise but we are use to small bathrooms in our home. We had a few issues with flushing but we called and they fix the issue out in the hall, never entering your room. The bed was very comfy and we got the body pillow from the pillow menu, but as a picky pillow person-the bed pillows were perfect. TV was at best ok, very hard to figure out the channel crap but I loved the SLEEP mode on the clicker, I never woke up to turn off the tv!

Food-we are easy to please, I am quite happy with somebody else cooking and cleaning. We really enjoyed the dinners in the dining room and we also had very good experiences in the buffet dining area. There are plenty of choices for anybody to find something they will like. I do miss their cupcakes and my son loved the cheesecakes. Room service cheese platters were also tremendous. The fries all around were yummy. Pizza was surprisingly delicious. My son has now learned he loves sushi.....

El Bacio-with the drink package the coffees here are free. I loved the frozen frappacino mocha. My son went there every morning to get his hot chocolate (and the girl there always mentioned him to us when we went to get our coffees). We all got cookies to go to munch on in our room in the evening.

We did not go to any of the other restaurants as we had plenty to choose from for free.

Service-AWESOME! If you have ANY issues please tell them, they are there to help and they do so with a smile, I had a problem with my son not having the soda package and computer free listed on the papers, they worked on the problem and called me several times to tell me how things were going-all worked out fine. You do not have to tip, but we brought dollar bills to give out (room service, drinks to our regular tenders, those that helped do our room, formal night dinner, etc.).

Entertainment-we did a lot of Karaoke as my hubby is a singer (he was asked to do the Karaoke Championship, he was 1 of 9) and we enjoy that. "It is 5 o'clock" group at the back of the ship was very good, as was a piano player we came across. We did the last show and it was plenty to give us an idea of the wonderful talent on the ship but it was enough for us. The comedy show, Regine?, was very good and clean, we were not impressed by the late night 2nd city comedy thing. We did the Liars Game show and it was entertaining. We are not gamblers, so can not comment on that, but walking through it looks as if there is a lot to offer as well as a lot of tables for the games.. My husband brought his guitar and would often play away from the others near the smoking area of ship so it would not comflict with others.

Our ship captain was a greek fella and he was a trip-so very funny and nice, very personable. The ship's host was also wonderful (my hubby and son named him Kevin James).

WIFI-as you expect it is expensive but if you need it it is there. I felt that it was pretty good at its speed, but I dont have fast speeds at home so I am use to a slow computer. When in Bermuda I got the WIFi from there for 3days, I was able to use it on my balcony as I was facing Dockyard.

Pictures-there was never any pressure to do them. They are a bit on the expensive side. When you find your pictures they will put them in a folder with your room number on it and save them all till the end when you decide which ones you want to buy. Do watch for the buy 2 get one free promotion near the end of the cruise-it was only one day and I missed it.

Announcements-rarely did I hear things on announcements! When the Captain had to do his talk in the morning, he even knew people did not really care about half the crap he was to tell us and made fun of the whole thing.

KIDS-not too many little ones, but they probably were in the kid clubs, we were told there were a lot of teens on board and they were wonderful. My son had a blast and for a kid with Aspergers he sure made a lot of friends. They all freely went to and from the teen club as they wished. The personnelle kept the kids out of the adult pools and whirlpools regularly. The inside adult pool is heated!

SHOPS-typical high end stuff. I did buy a Fossil watch and came home to check out how ripped off I was-NOT, I actually got a good deal (it was not a high end $500 one!). We bought some booze cheap and it was delivered to our room the night before we docked.

DRINK PACKAGE-not sure if it is because the average age is late 40's-50's that this was NOT abused, I saw only 1 person majorly drunk the whole trip. I dont drink so I can not comment on what was good that was offered, I was happy with my free club soda and special coffees, hubby had beer and a few glasses of wine.

I did notice that there were a few high end people on board that rarely offered a "thank you" or would become angry over something ever so simple-life is just too short to be rude or not to smile and nod a thank you-the workers on this ship work so hard for US, be nice to them, be grateful for their great jobs - and lack of sleep.

If you go on a cruise with a good attitude and choose to have a good time no matter what, you will. I would totally recommend this cruise to Bermuda (even with not being high end with kid fun stuff my son said he wanted to do this ship and cruise again next year!)
