April 2014 - Grandeur of the Seas to Caribbean - Bahamas
The cruise had back to back Norovirus infections, which they didn't let us know until the day before we left. So the understaffed crew spent the entire time wiping down the handles, walls, everything with strong chemicals that made me sick and gave my family and I rashes all over our skin. That coupled with the mandatory "washy, washy" before entering every room probably 20+ times a day and it is easy to understand. The smell was disgusting chemical odors and the waiters, stewards and others were very undermanned. For example- no towels at all for the first two days in one of our staterooms. The cruise director needs to bring his head down to earth and provide some actual entertainment during the day other than trying to sell things on ship all day. The entertainment in the evenings was good. We booked months in advance and were placed in three separate cabins on different floors, with no attempt to upgrade or move us despite our requests and lots of cancellations- with last minute bookings getting upgrades rather than us. Same with the evening dining- we wanted early seating for our kids but didn't get it until the third day- despite many empty tables in the dining room the entire time during the first seating. Have cruised about 20 times and this was the worst experience ever.
