Oasis of the Seas

January 2014 - Oasis of the Seas to Caribbean - Western

First time on the Oasis Class Ship

We have been on several cruises on Carnival, Princess and Royal Caribbean, this was the first time on the very large Oasis Class ships.  I have wanted to try the Oasis since it was built.  Now that I have done it, I prefer the regular sized ships a little better.  All in all, this was a very good cruise.  To be fair several people we met said they only sail on the Oasis or the Allure because they prefer this type of ship.  We had a Central Park Balcony room and I felt like we we staying in a resort hotel that was near the ocean, and you had to walk a half block to get to the beach.  Perhaps if we had an ocean view I would have felt differently.  I did not always feel like I was on a cruise ship.  Lots of variety of places to eat or things to do.  I read other reviews that said that for as many people that were on the ship, there were very few lines.  I did not find this to be true.  If you eat at prime time, we found long lines, difficulty finding seats at the Windjammer Cafe, and long lines for things like the zipline etc. You can work around this, but it was not convienient for us.

Coral Princess

August 2013 - Coral Princess to Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

Alaska on the Coral Princess

This was our sixth cruise, first to Alaska and second on the Coral Princess. We choose this Alaska cruise because of the itinerary and because we had sailed on Coral several years ago through the Panama Canal. The ship has been upgraded since our last cruise. The casino is smaller but they added a dessert/coffee cafe in its place. In my opinion a great idea. I loved the casino and its size was appropriate and never felt crowded. The cafe had free desserts or sandwiches and premium coffees etc that you paid for. It was a nice place to hang out between shows or for a late night or afternoon snack. Alaska is gorgeous and you get to appriciate the landscape that has had little influence from people. It is very remote, rugged and isolated. We saw whales and other wildlife. The big difference in Alaska and the Carribibean is that on an Alaska cruise you always have something to see outside the ship. We skipped the main dining room a couple of nights so we could watch the scenery and whales. Best cruise experiance we have had. Great food, entertainment and service.

Carnival Glory

February 2013 - Carnival Glory to Caribbean - Eastern

Glory Eastern Carib

Very pleased overall. I liked the food options esp. Guys Burger Joint. Guys alone will make me book again with Carnival. Pizza was also very good, MDR had several options that you could choose if you did not want was on the nightly menu. I can't comment much on the buffets as I usually ate at Guys every lunch. Seemed to have a good selection and very good dessert options. Service was very good, we had anytime dining and different waitstaff in the MDR every night. No problems with any of them. Cabin stewerts were very friendly and helpful. My biggest disapoint was the main showlounge entertainment. Not much varitiy and Carnivals new video screen background is impressive, but sometimes overshadowed the performers. Performers were good dancers but not great singers. Too much emphisis on the video screen and not the performance. I would have liked to seen a varity act or two, magic etc. Comedy club was very good all commedians were very funny. Carnival has a great thing going with the George Lopez Comedy Club idea. I have been on several cruise lines and I must say that for the money Carnival is a great value. If you do not have a good time, it is your fault.

Carnival Inspiration

December 2010 - Carnival Inspiration to Caribbean - Western

Better then expected

We booked a 5 night cruise with Carnival to take our 12 year old on her first cruise. She had a ball. We had sailed on Carnival about 20 years ago and we have graduated to other cruise lines as we have become a little older. We were pleasently surprised with this cruise. We chose carnival for its price and value and we thought it would be more fun for the 12 year old. She had a blast with her Circle C group. The food was better then other cruise lines, not as fancy but better tasting. The entertainment was not as good as other cruiselines we have been on recently. T

BillS15's Tips

Falmouth, Jamaica - Went on the Sugar Plantation tour, a 2 hour tour that took 4 hours. Interseting
Oasis of the Seas Oasis of the Seas - Attend the Central Park Garden tour, great info on the plants, but also info on how the ship was built and logistic issues the y dealt with.
Coral Princess Coral Princess - Decks 10 and 11 have open viewing areas in the front. You have to go through a door that says "Emergency Exit Only" to get to them. The naturalist will encourage you to do this. Great views on both sides of ship.
Grand Turk Island - Very convienient if you want shopping and beach. Take the dune buggy experiance for a fun excursion.
Carnival Glory Carnival Glory - If the buffet area seating is crowded, go to deck ten by the fish and chips there are plenty of seats there.
George Town, Grand Cayman - swim with the dolphins was fun, should do this once in your life. We had to dock the other side of the island so we did not get to shop.
