First off- I want to say I've worked in hospitality (not cruises but in hotels and f&b) for my whole career so my review is a bit different from most simply because I know things. I also am stuck at the airport for many hours so I have nothing to do but write this review 👍 Also we are foodies, drinkers, money saving, very easy going people. So here goes my long winded review... Triumph is exactly what you make it. For so many people to only base thier time on how the ship looks are total fools! We had a fantastic time (regardless of my hyper critical review) We did not care at all about the decor. To all that obsess over it, get over it! Entertainment: The show the first night was awful (Very cheesy and you could tell the dancers hated it!) but the rest of the shows were great. There were a lot of great planned activities but much more extra $$ activities than I have seen on any other carnival cruise. We relaxed a lot, I hate swiping that piece of plastic. So I got a killer tan and looked cute by the pool. Ship: Dated but whatev! Things were falling apart, the bed collapsed onto my foot last night. I'm in horrible pain (yes, don't question me.. I still enjoyed myself). Overall, staff is overworked and need a moral boost. Food: Eh. Both my husband and myself got very sick from the buffet. Every time we ate there (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) we never walked away with saying "wow!" for a good reason. We stopped going after we got sick. Paris dining room dinner was delicious!!! The food was so much better than anywhere on the ship. However, we didn't fare well with our servers. I am not big on complaining, I know the staff has a hard enough of a job and I don't want to add any headaches. However eventually we were more than frustrated. We were neglected, no other way to say it. The head server always stood to the side of the room and just watched his team work. First two nights never were offered bread and didn't receive water until we asked (these are norms while dining). Food also ALWAYS took one hour from sitting down to hit the table. By the third night my very calm, very muscular/intimidating, easy going husband, sternly stared at head server. It was his "enough is enough" look (its terrifying if you dont know the teddy bear he is.) The server promptly came over and we didn't have much issue after that. Looking back now I wish I would of complained, after all- this was our honeymoon. This is my 7th cruise and this was the first cruise of my life where I did not tip our servers extra. Room: Balcony 7207. Forward starboard. Good side, very quiet. Right under the bridge so we had an overhanging and awful search light. We liked the room however you could tell the steward was very overworked. She looked exhausted every time. The room lacked cleanliness of the details. I always Lysol the room and thank God I did because there was nastiness everywhere!! I would see our steward from 5 am (we are early risers) until after 10pm. I know they have breaks in that time period but she had what seemed to be half of the starboard floor!!! Way too much for anyone. I blame carnival for not taking care of thier employees. Melinda's attitude was awesome, she tried her best but she can only be as good as her management. Bar: Same as any ship, its ok. In all honestly we always sneak booze on as well so I can make my drink stronger without breaking the bank. #sorrynotsorry Overall I will always be a cruiser but Triumph needs to take better care of thier staff before I'll return. To those hard working people, thank you for everything!! Get some rest and go see your families soon.
