Leaving out of NYC was terrific... cruising by the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Isle... very inspiring. We were alittle leary about the new Free Style Dining offered by NCL. Had read several comments prior to our cruise... and alot seemed negative. How wrong they were !!! We have cruised probably 8-10 times in the past.... and "thought " we liked the scheduled dinner times. There is nothing like the Free Style Dining... hope more cruise lines will follow in NCL steps. The Spirit was a very nice ship.... not huge like some of the new fleets... but more than comfortable. The meeting areas, showrooms, casinos were very nice. The Asian Design was very nice. I would suggest to NCL that they review their "BINGO" policy. The game is suppose to be for fun & entertainment. They have gone to the "computer" machines... with very high prices. We have always played the games on our prior cruises.... but this time , we found ourselves staying away... even on the big final jackpot night... because the cost to play was getting out of reach. Also, the assistant cruise director... kept pushing the machines so hard.... almost to the point ... that anyone who purchased the paper games.... (cheaper cost) was wasting their time and was foolish to do so. So we just stayed away!!! Also, the personnel at the piers were terrible. We got dropped off on Saturday morning and it was chaos. The personnel handling the luggage were rude and yelling at cruisers. We had to find our own tags, find a cart... and then a dock worker to make sure the luggage was forwarded to the right ship. In the past.... we were always sent luggage tags with the ships name. This time when we registered on line.... one "paper" tag was printed. Would recommend NCL return to sending out the colored luggage tags prior to the time you reach the ship. But aside from these few hassels.... I would recommend the cruise to everyone. The food was good, the itinary was great, the relaxiation was terrific! Can't wait to plan my next one!
