Carnival Ecstasy

Carnival Ecstasy

Sail date: August 01, 2011

Nice but lacks some amenities

The cruise ship description for Ecstasy states 3 pools on board inc. kids waterworks slide park. There is not. The only pool available was just one itty bitty pool for everyone, and smaller than the size of 2 small combined dorm rooms. Discouraged me from going to pool, which was way overcrowded. Disappointing. Also, kids had a waterpark but they were also found in hot tubs unsupervised (kids under certain age should not be in a hot tub). I don't know what happened to the other adult pool, but it was nowhere to be found. There were 2 hot tubs on another part of the ship. Also, we went as a family. Our boys are ages 18 and 20. There were no activities for this age group (who cannot drink) except an over 18 singles mixer. They had difficulty meeting other older teens their age and did not want to go to a singles mixer. Many activities/clubs planned for pre-teens-age 17, younger kids Everything else was open to 18 and older, but b/c 18-20 year olds can't drink, it would be nice to see some planned activities for this age group. The staterooms were excellent. We had a porthole room on Riveria deck and the view of water is fantastic. Service was excellent, although long lines in buffet and dining room service was a bit slow. The ship is a bit old but they keep it very clean. The size is good esp for first time cruisers.
