Norwegian Getaway

February 2015 - Norwegian Getaway to Caribbean - Eastern

Great cruise!

It was great. We already wrote one, but it got erased. Oops. Here is the summary...

Food: ****.5, would recommend the Noodle Bar and Sushi Restaurant, as well as the amazing not-for-fee Taste and Savor restraunts. The Buffet was clean and organized, always had fresh food.

Stateroom: ****.5, great shower! One of the best cruise bathrooms. Relatively small balcony, but with a great view.

Service/Staff: *****, helpful and kind. Sudesh, the stateroom steward, was so nice and made us towel animals everyday, and called us by name. This made us feel very special.

Entertainment: ****, loved the comedy club! Amazing variety of three comedy club shows, the Illusionarium show, Legally Blonde was enjoyable, and Burn the Floor made us want to join them in the dance! They were great! The only negative was the Illusionarium room was small. We paid extra to sit in the front, and we got there 20 minutes early, yet we were still put in the rear of the circular room where we could not see the show. Bad room for the venue.

On-Board Activities: *****, lots for kids to do, including an array of waterslides, the SkyCourse ropes course with The Plank, the rock climbing wall and indoor bowling in the arcade. There was three cupcake/cake classes ($40) which were great and there were also lots of trivia sessions, both in the morning and afternoon. The trivia was really hard.

Ports of call: ****.5, all good except for Nassau. St. Thomas was beautiful. St. Martin was a little rundown. Salespeople were very pushy.

Shore Excursions: ****, use Norwegian shore excursions - very well organized! All the shore excursions were organized, and efficient. Skip Nassau unless you are going to Atlantis - there is nothing to see. I would recommend the Perfume one in St. Martin, the city tour in St. Thomas and you should go out and see airport beach! It is unique, just remember it is busy.

Crowd control: *****, nowhere felt busy except for the pool from 10-2 on sea days. The staff were also great because they helped my grandmother with her wheel chair. They helped her get on and off.

Note: * = stars out of five

2015FirstCruise's Tips

Nassau, Bahamas - Overdeveloped, as the whole island was. Don't get off unless you are going to Atlantis (very expensive).
Philipsburg, St. Maarten - A little crowded and a bit commercial. The airport beach (a bit crowded) and the perfume tour were both great!
Miami, Florida - We live in Fort Lauderdale, so we didn't do anything in Miami. The port is efficient, and Key Biscayne is pretty.
Norwegian Getaway Norwegian Getaway - Make sure to go to Taste and Savor at no extra charge! Also, explore St. Thomas... And in St. Martin, try the Perfume class and tour.
