Mat, cruise director, was excellent! So much energy, got people involved, and the evening activities were great. So funny and engaging.
The main dining room food was very good, I was impressed with the selections. This was my first cruise, so I don't have much to compare it to. Also, we did the Chef's Table because it was my boyfriend's birthday while on the cruise. It was a very unique and enjoyable experience..but be aware, if you are trying to surprise someone by signing up for it without them knowing, they will call your room and put a paper invite under your door AND someone will probably come to your table in the dining room the day before to confirm. I managed to catch the first two, but my boyfriend caught on when the guy came to our table. He didn't know what the Chef's Table was, but he knew something was up..
The ports were cool, not a lot of time to explore, but we saw enough to get a feel for it.
The staff was always so friendly. Bc of my boyfriend's birthday, they left him chocolates in the room one day and a little packet of gift cards ($ off a bottle of wine, a free photo, and some spa credit). It was very nice.
Some not-so-positives- the pool is small and crowded much of the time.
You have to buy the drink package for the entire cruise, not just the days you choose. We didn't think we would drink enough for it to be worth it every day.
Overall, it was a great experience and we had a lot of fun.
I have been on several cruises. Overall this was a good experience as most of my past cruises have been. Carnival did remove lobster from the "fancy" dinner night but had it available for an additional cost. I remember the food being a little better than it was in this cruise. But value for the cost is good. We booked an excursion to Playa Uvas, this was the only letdown if the trip. Pictures for this was not accurate, and didn't offer unlimited food as it states in description.
The entertainment was excellent. The food was good. Room service was fairly quick, except for the last day of the cruise (to be expected), The boat arrived in Jamaica late, causing me to miss out on completing the Dunn River Fall's Waterfall, which was the one most important thing that I wanted to do! The cruiseline did reimburse me for that excursion, but I wanted to complete the excursion instead. The captain should have allowed 3 extra hours in Jamaica, since we were 3 hours late arriving. I don't understand how we could have been late, since we were just cruising in the water Monday & Tuesday. That was my main complaint. Washing machnes did not clean my clothes and I had to ask for a refund, which they gave me back. $3.00 to wash and dry was a little much. I dried my clothes for 90 minutes and my clothes were still wet. The showers were nice and hot and the irons, worked really well. I would give the cruise a 7 out of 10.
The cruise was great. Transportation cost us an extra $500. Never had to fly in for cruise so I wasn't informed that my flight would need to be booked to allow plenty of time for traffic and boarding ship. Not happy about that at all!
We were disappointed with the food, entertainment and delayed arrival to Jamaica. Please improve the food on this ship especially the desserts, I love my desserts "sweet", and they taste like a diet dessert, so disappointing. The food just needs a lot of improvement and the service is very slow in the dining area. They don't have a lot of variety in the buffet, they serve the same food everyday. Be more creative. We were used to being pampered from our previous cruises that we expected so much from this one, even the entertainment is light, bring the FUN in this ship. Good thing this is not our first cruise or we would never go again. The cruise needs a lot of upgrade. The only good thing we experienced is that our rooms are kept clean everyday and we didn't go hungry.
This was my first Carnival cruise and my last, Food was below mediocur, the ship was outdated, entertainment could have been alot better, and not enough activities for our teens.pool was small and packed with roudy loud people, and looked dirty.
The wait staff was ok they tried to please.or room steward Sarah was excellant.
Oh and i forgot i hot food poisening from there food ,went to nurse and was told i could not leave my cabin for 24hrs . My family had to go to half moon cay with out me. Never again Carnival!
Onboard activities were great. Half Moon Cay was beautiful. Nassau was disappointing, but that is not the ship's fault. I will choose another port next time. The serenity area on the boat needs a pool for the adults.
The Carnival Sensation is one of the older boat and it's getting very close to being due for an overhaul. The cruise itself is a nice jaunt to the private island where the water is beautiful and to Nassau. Definitely a great 4 day cruise to take and an excursion to Balmoral Island is worth it. You are almost on the island BY YOURSELF!!!!!
Bring a Power Strip (surge protector) - You'll probably only have a single 110v outlet in your cabin, bringing a power strip will allow you to charge multiple phones or laptops. *Note: Check with your cruise line if you have questions about what electrical devices are permitted.
