small verified icon Verified Review | Ship: Carnival Sensation | Sail Date: Mar 22, 2015

This was my first cruise, I'm glad we went and we had fun, but will not likely do again. Our room was nice. We got an ocean view and it was bigger than I expected.  Very clean. The staff was all great, especially the wait staff in the main dining room. The food was average but definitely plentiful. We didn't do any sponsored excursions but struck out on our own and had a good time of it. We had a wonderful couples massage until it was over, then they try to get you to spend $119 for 2 small bottles of oil, we said no thanks and they became curt and not so warm and friendly. Gratuities are automatically taken which I disagree with. The cost of the massage was more than enough, and I would not have tipped on this.  Gratuities are automatically withdrawn as a daily added charge per person and I prefer to tip on my own according to service given.  We thought this would be a less expensive vacation and we were wrong. We looked at several resorts and figured we would save with a cruise. Not so, after all the little fees got tacked on we spent about the same as it was to book a full week at an all inclusive 4 star resort.

Worst cruise i have ever been on

small verified icon Verified Review | Ship: Carnival Sensation | Sail Date: Mar 22, 2015

I have been on other cruise lines and Carnival is by far the worst I have been on. As far as cleanliness they are the worst, there is a reason why Carnival always has the most sickness on their cruises because they don't make people clean their hands before going to the buffet; other cruise lines have workers standing at the door with a bottle of hand cleaner to spray on your hands before entering the buffet at all times, Carnival does not service this.

The front desk reg. guy was rude to me twice when I went up to ask about my excursion that I booked on line he made me feel like I was a liar about booking an excursion. I had to pull up my email to prove to him that I had booked it.

We had one night show and the rest of the nights were comedians, we were looking forward to the nightly shows. Plus the one night show they had were workers from the ship, which was a disappointment.

Activities were limited, they didn't have any thing for the adults to do until after 11 p.m. at night then you had to be 18t to go to them, but they had a few out on the deck which the teens were still out there so they more or less took over the activities.

I will give a thumbs up to the dining room servers and the people that cleaned your rooms. I was under the impression that all the cabins had fridges but they don't so were couldn't keep our soda or water cold.

Drinks were way too expensive.

The day when you were at sea it was overcrowded everywhere, if you didn't get a lounge chair early that morning then don't plan on getting one the rest of the day. The hot tubs were full of children all the time, no adults with them and the waterslide was way too busy.

The only thing I did like is that you were allowed to bring water or soda on the ship with you before sailing. And I liked that it only cost $15 to get social internet service but then I went ahead and got an upgrade for $20 more and could surf the net.

The only way I would sail with Carnival again is if I got a giant discount otherwise I would sail with Norwegian

small verified icon Verified Review | Ship: Carnival Sensation | Sail Date: Mar 19, 2015

The entertainment was great, the staff was wonderful, well worth the money. The dining could have been better, but it was all very relaxing, there's was plenty of activities for the kids and the grown ups.

Cruising

small verified icon Verified Review | Ship: Carnival Sensation | Sail Date: Mar 12, 2015

While we enjoyed this cruise, i found several things lacking from previous cruises.  No ice in rooms except upon request; no choc on pillows; had to walk all the way front to back of ship on deck ten to get down to the deck you wanted.  sad service when requiring lighting to be fixed - three times in a row.  muster was all in one room which i'm sure was way over capacity.  not easy to hear and then no one seemed to know where to have people stand outside during muster.

Nice Staff with Good Ports of Call

small verified icon Verified Review | Ship: Carnival Sensation | Sail Date: Mar 08, 2015

My boyfriend and I took this cruise to celebrate his birthday. It was his first cruise so I was really excited to give him a great experience. Our cabin was decorated with birthday signs, streamers and a chocolate cake as soon as we walked inside! (I had ordered the birthday celebration package just the night before.) The staff was friendly and the cabin steward knew that it was his birthday when he introduced himself to us which I thought was a great touch! Our stateroom was roomy and always clean. Room service was great. This is an older and smaller ship than I was used to , but it still had all the great features that I associate with "The Fun Ships" The club was awesome with a great DJ and the drinks were so good at every bar! I wish there were more pool areas on this ship and the Freeport was a little dull to me, but I guess if all you want to do is go to the beach it's fine. The cruise director on this ship was too cheesy and the shows left much to be desired. Other than that great cruise for a first time cruiser (decent cruise for someone more experienced.)

Great Spring Break Vacation

small verified icon Verified Review | Ship: Carnival Sensation | Sail Date: Mar 08, 2015

The cruise started out great because we did our check-in online beforehand and avoided the long line in port.  We boarding the ship and went to our room to get settled, when we got there we met our stateroom attendant he made notes of anything that needed to be fixed!  Our bags came while we were settling in and by the time we came back from getting lunch all of our room fixes were done! The late night comedy shows were hilarious and the nightclub was always a good time.  We chose my-time-dining and that worked perfectly for us and there was never more than a 5 minute wait.  It was myself and my two best friends on the cruise and we always chose to share a table with others, I would highly recommend it!  We could always find a chair around the pool and it never took too long to get drinks.  The 24-hour pizza bar was delicious as well as the neighboring sandwich bar.  I wasn't overly impressed with the buffet food the few times we went there for breakfast but the room service and dining room were great!  The staff was always helpful and we had a great time anywhere we went.   Finally, we chose to carry our own bags off so we could leave the ship when we wanted and there was a couple of backups on the gangway so we just hung out on deck.  I would absolutely recommend this cruise to any college kids recent grads!

Family Time

small verified icon Verified Review | Ship: Carnival Sensation | Sail Date: Mar 08, 2015

This was my first cruise and it won't be my last. We really enjoyed ourselves. The steward was always helpful and when we did order room services it came in a reasonable time.  The kids had fun as well and the dining in different area was great. Prices for other things on the boat was reasonable. Only complain I have is the picture was to high and there wasn't any deals.

Ok

small verified icon Verified Review | Ship: Carnival Sensation | Sail Date: Mar 05, 2015

It was too expensive for a 3 day cruise.  Food was not all that. They charge extra for a 5oz steak that was not cooked to order. Crew was friendly and courteous.  We could not hear announcements in our room, we had to open the door to listen to announcements in the hallway.  I noticed that food quality has declined since my last Carnival cruise 8yrs ago.

03/2015 Carnival Sensation

small verified icon Verified Review | Ship: Carnival Sensation | Sail Date: Mar 01, 2015

Overall we had a good time, but there were a few issues. The slides and upper deck were closed 3 of the 4 days, cabin restroom smelled of urine, food was just O.K. - dinning room food was good, but the other food areas was more like cafeteria food, no activities (comedy show, bingo, etc) planned early - for the late dinner people, late dinner was TOO late - couldn't enter dinning room till 8:15 and didn't get done till 10:00 pm, way TOO many people onboard (mainly teens & 20 something's), had to wait in line for everything on the ship, the snorkel excursion in Freeport - snorkeling only lasted 20 mins - Crew started the 30 min clock from the time they dropped the anchor, by the time we got in the water we only had about 20 mins (advertisement indicated 45 mins of snorkeling), shopping was only at the resort, drinks at the resort were OVER PRICED and no alcohol. The ship is older, but overhauled in 2011, but it seemed drab. The staff was GREAT - friendly courteous, & attentive!! We'll do another cruise, not sure if it'll be with Carnival.

Bring a Power Strip (surge protector) - You'll probably only have a single 110v outlet in your cabin, bringing a power strip will allow you to charge multiple phones or laptops. *Note: Check with your cruise line if you have questions about what electrical devices are permitted.
