royal carribean is slipping

Ship: Independence of the Seas
Sail Date: Apr 07, 2013

while we had a good time on this ship we have previously sailed on the independance a few years ago....royal carribean is slipping....taking away little things that made a big difference from other cruise lines. the menus in the dining room at nite were terrible...one nite we had a choice of pizza ....for dinner! no more trays in the buffet....no more stationary in the rooms or chocolates on the bed.....the most disappointing is the menus for dinner ...the quality has certainly gone way, way down.....i felt like i was on a carnival cruise....

Very clean and in very good condition. Dining room food good, not great. This was our 12th cruise, different lines and this one is above the mid point. Great cruise director - impressive ship.

Royal Caribbean Cruise - 3/16 - Independence of the Seas

Ship: Independence of the Seas
Sail Date: Mar 16, 2013

Cruise was good. Very windy first couple of days. Weather was good, no rain just sun :) Room was OK. Neat and clean. Had a Promenade view. Windows were foggy. Buffet in Windjammer Cafe was disappointing. Food was just OK. Could really get the same food in any cafeteria. However, the main dining room food was excellent. Service in dining room was outstanding. One thing, we chose the "My time dining" option. Its very misleading. You have to still make reservations to dine at the time you want. Grab your time slot as soon as you get on board otherwise you will have only 830pm and after to choose from. Did the Zip line in Labadee, Haiti. What a thrill! Would do it again. All in all, was a fun cruise, good to get away and enjoy fun in the sun.

Great cruise except one thing

Ship: Independence of the Seas
Sail Date: Mar 16, 2013

the ship is great, entertainment was great, we got to see a new show for the first time on this ship.Casey the entertainment director was awesome.the rooms and ship were very clean.food was decent nothing too spectacular.now the bad.the service in general was not great but the worst was the bartenders and bar staff.we bought the premier drink package so we could drink at our leisure and not worry about signing a receipt every time.the pool lacked service badly only a few cocktail people around and when you were lucky to find one they were borderline rude because they didn't act like they were happy to help you at all.sometimes they would take your order and your sail pass card and not say a single word.then show up about 20 min later with drinks.in the Dog and Badger pub,the bartenders were very unfriendly,i even made a comment on how none of the bartenders smile and he just snickered.there was a woman from Chili waiting on us and the couple we were with were ordering a drink and my fri...

It was a wonderful experience

Ship: Independence of the Seas
Sail Date: Mar 16, 2013

My wife and I were celebrating our 40th Anniversary and decided to do a cruise. Friends of ours recommended Royal Caribbean and I am please to report to you that it was wonderful and better than we expected. The dinning service, our maid, room service etc. made us feel like Royality. We will definitely do it again. Our consultant, Stephanie Patterson was most helpful we spoke with her several times before our cruise. Thank you

Excellent cruise

Ship: Independence of the Seas
Sail Date: Mar 16, 2013

Had a great time. Great cruise. Food was very good. Staff was perfect. Just a beautiful cruise ship. The promanade was beautiful. All the ports we stopped at were very enjoyable. Would have like have had spent more time in San Juan. Never been to Labedee. Quite a surprise. We had a great day. We will be looking forward to our next cruise. Royal Caribbean has proven to be a lovely cruise lines.

St Marteen, St.Kitts, San Juan, Labadee - 8 nights Eastern Caribbean

Ship: Independence of the Seas
Sail Date: Mar 16, 2013

The cruise ship was awesome, with many things do, but the beds that they put together this time in our room had a gap in between them, giving us back pains. And the carts with the silverware and stuff were annoying to listen to because they were on one the cabin floors (The 7th) instead of the kitchen, I don't know why. St. Marteen and St. Kitts were to dirty, and the beaches are so so. San Juan was beautiful with amazing beaches. Labadee was a ton of fun and is beautiful, the only problem was they stopped serving food at 1:30 pm. Overall, the cruise was great!

Our 2013 family vacation on Royal Caribbean Caribbean, the Independence

Ship: Independence of the Seas
Sail Date: Mar 16, 2013

This year, my wife and I have decided to take our 3 daughters and her mom on an 8 day cruise with us. We all had a wonderful time. The ship was full of fun, we enjoyed everything we had time for. The crew was awesome, the food not too bad. We visited St. Maarten, St Kitts, San Juan Puerto Rico and Labadee, Haiti. Among the four destinations, my children enjoyed Haiti the most, they went on two excursions, the jet sky and the zip-line.

Deck Plans for Independence of the Seas

Tips for Independence of the Seas

Just take your time and relax your on vacation!

Enjoy Labadee and San Juan. St.Marteen and St. Kitts nothing special, to dirty and poor in signs and information (it was exetremely hard to find the good beaches).

Find a favorite bar tender and bar on the ship and stick to it

Try the restaurants for breakfast instead of the buffet!!!

First time on a Freedom-class ship. Usually book on Vision-class. Independence of the Seas is so large it feels like a hotel that never leaves the pier. Surprisingly, did not experience any long lines getting on or off, dining rooms, or at Guest Relations desk.

"Vintages Bar" has a nice wine sampler. You get three glass of one ounce each, of the particular wine category you choose, reds, whites, etc.

Ice skating show was excellent.

Board the ship early the first day. Even though the cruise didn't leave Ft. Lauderdale until 5:30 we were on in time to have lunch and get a chance to explore where everything is before the actual cruise began. Once our cabins were ready and luggage had arrived, we were able to start unpacking. Make every minute count! Get to the ice-show and Alhambra theatre early, the shows fill up quickly.

Enjoy the Royal Promenade. They have bars/pub style places you can listen to live music and grab a drink or two. They also have a couple of shows there in the evening during your 7 day voyage.

Make good use of the free room service!

If you ever get a chance you should make sure you go on this ship and this cruise line.

Very friendly atmosphere

Very good selection of food in the buffet - even had turkey burgers! Dining room could be better - food/service.

...with my time dining...I was limited with either early or later seating times which was a little disapointing

go on this ship!!!!

Go to all the shows possible...they're awesome

not very happy with my time dining.paid extra to have it, but still had long lines each night.

Excellent entertainment. The food taste was inconsistant, meat dishes and hot soups tasteless mostly. Horrible sewer odor when walked into cabin on embarcation but resolved later. Great staff.

The buffet is better then the fine dining! Check out Johnny Rockets

Chops grill is worth the money
