Freedom of the Seas 5/12/13

Ship: Freedom of the Seas
Sail Date: May 12, 2013

Cruise was excellent. Ship was beautiful, food was excellent, and service was outstanding. The only really negative thing was a smell outside our stateroom, presumably in the carpet that smelled like sewage. They said it would go away but it did not.

Husband's 50th Birthday Cruise

Ship: Freedom of the Seas
Sail Date: May 12, 2013

Great staff and a beautiful ship. Lots of activities on board but it seemed like alot of the time they were all happening at the same time which made for some hard decisions. Excellent meal choices. The Windjammer cafe' tends to get crowded around 9:30 for breakfast. Definitly planning our next cruise. Love Royal Caribbean.

Relaxing and Smooth-Sailing

Ship: Freedom of the Seas
Sail Date: May 05, 2013

Our Freedom of the Seas cruise was pretty much what we expected. Royal Caribbean knows how to run a ship. Compared to other ships we've sailed on, the food was better than average in presentation, variety and taste. We thought the production shows were very good but the rest of the ship's entertainment was just average and other activities not as plentiful as on other ships. The opportunity to ice skate was a huge plus which we enjoyed and took advantage of on three separate days. Pre-cruise embarkation and final disembarkation were amazingly quick and problem free, the best we have ever experienced. Staff were helpful and cheerful. Stateroom accomodations were fine and the ship was quite clean even though the decor was not as asthetically pleasing to us as on other ships.

May 5th Freedom

Ship: Freedom of the Seas
Sail Date: May 05, 2013

The staff were beyond excellent. With exception to the cuts of beef served, especially in the Windjammer, were gristly, everything else were good. My wife and I cruise on the Freedom at least 3 times a year and except for the beef love it.

Good but very boring

Ship: Freedom of the Seas
Sail Date: Apr 28, 2013

I could not find fault with the ship or its crew. They were great!! Food was fine and plentiful. During the two days at sea there was very little planned for the passengers except for the endless sales of out of date and unusable items. You should be ashamed to offer such rubbish!!! The ports of call were poor with Falmouth Jamaica the worst. It is a shame because the ship was great.

Excellent ship and excellent service

Ship: Freedom of the Seas
Sail Date: Apr 28, 2013

Wonderful experience. Large ship, but didn't feel overwhelmed with passengers. Lots of room, lots of activities. Wonderful service. Enjoyed all of the ports of call, in particular Labadee, Haiti. Would highly recommend this cruise to friends.

Perfect Family Vacation!

Ship: Freedom of the Seas
Sail Date: Apr 14, 2013

This was our 5th cruise (4th with Royal Caribbean), we took our 10 year old daughter and 5 year old son and it was wonderful! The ship was perfect, very clean, excellent staff, and awesome food! Our kids had so much fun at Adventure Ocean every night which gave us some time to relax. While on the cruise, we visited the Spa, the shops, many of the bars, the ice skating rink, the Flowrider, and the sports deck. We ate room service for breakfast, visited the Windjammer for lunch, and enjoyed My Time Dining in the dining room at the same time with the same waitstaff each night. Everything was PERFECT! The only con is that our son couldn't participate in many of the activities that he wanted to because of his age :( Even though he was bigger in height and weight than some of the 6-7 year olds participating in Rock Climbing, Boogie Boarding, and Ice Skating, he was unable to do those activities because he was not 6 years old. We did take excursions in Grand Caymen and in Cozumel. In...

Great Cruise - Check out no so much

Ship: Freedom of the Seas
Sail Date: Apr 14, 2013

We had the best cruise experience with Royal Carribean. The stop at Labadee was just great, I thought it was going to be boring, but it was far from it. I recommend doing the barbecue. The lines looked long, but they move very fast. I enjoyed each port of call. The stop in Jamaica is great until you past the gates and then you are bombarded with vendors not only hawking their wares, but almost rushing you. My only issue was with the Guest services desk. Each night as you try to tally up your services, or get a repair done, the waits are very long. My last day on the ship there was an issue with my credit card, which I had explained to Guest Services the night before and was assured it was taken care of, but as I attempted to exit the ship, a very long alarm went off as if I was a criminal and one of the sailors yelled, "Your credit card won't go thru." I was so embarrassed, that is until another couple experienced the same rude sailor. I called my bank and explained what the ...

Deck Plans for Freedom of the Seas

Tips for Freedom of the Seas

We enjoy the promenade deck to meet up after dinner.

Room Service and hit the pool deck early before it gets full

This is a very large ship, the crowd was noticeable on a couple instances. If participating in shows or other group events, get there early.

The Windjammer is great for all meals especially if you are in a hurry. The ship doesn't spend a lot of time in St. Thomas so plan activities/shopping accordingly.

Bring a pool bag to carry towels to the different ports and always have a watch on hand with the "ship's time" as when you go to places like Mexico and Jamaica, there is a time difference and you don't want to miss the departure time of the ship!!!

Ask your waiter for something you'd like, even if it's not on the menu. Probably you will get it!

Wear good shoes...it is a BIG ship

Breakfast in the dining room was great. Not noisy and crowded

Ship is large so when you book it be sure to get a Stateroom on Deck 7 near the Elevators or else you have a lot of walking. Be sure to avail yourself of the off ship excursions especially in Jamaica on a bamboo raft on one of the many rivers on the island..

Wake up early for Pool, Gym, Booking Excursions.... If in a large group, Get a two way radio (its worth it trust me).. Now Go Enjoy your Trip...

Females who want to try the FlowRider, you might want to consider a tee shirt over your bikini. I've seen a few tops come off. Guys make sure that your trunks are on tightly for the same reason. Have fun! They help you get started & demonstrate tricks for you to try.

If you wish to try out the ice skating rink you will need to wear long pants. Be sure to bring a pair of comfortable one. The ship provides the skates. I'd bring heavy socks too for comfort.

If you are booking an inside cabin consider the Promenade staterooms for a little more money. You get a large picture window overlooking the Royal Promenade. These have an excellent view of the parades, dance shows and Meet the Captain events. They have a more open feeling.

Be sure to check out the great shopping discounts on the last day!

Windjammer Cafe' gets busy around 9:30 for breakfast. Try to go earlier and don't jump in the 1st line. Keep walking around the whole cafe'.

Use the stairs after an excursion if you can, or go to the bar and wait. Dinner time and excursion day the elevators are very slow indeed.

We love our balcony and have room service bring us danish and coffee 6:00 AM every day. BEAUTIFUL

YOU WANT BE SORRY IF YOU TAKE THIS CRUISE

Breakfast in the dining room, less crowded and quick service.

Great for the newly wed and nearly dead
