When I first started cruising, I took way too much in my carry-on bag that I lugged through the airport and waiting in line at the port. 90% of what I was carrying could have gone into the regular luggage!

I believed that there would be a long delay getting my luggage in my cabin and so far, it has never happened. I know I know spare me the horror stories ,,, But in 2016 on a dozen cruises, I never had to wait for it.

Therefore, I now pack medication, minimal makeup and jewelry, my camera and most importantly my passport/documents and let my lightweight carry-on serve as my purse. (I use a super light quilted tote bag I got on one of the islands)

I have learned to purge my purse and leave behind things like local grocery store / dept store cards and other items I only use at home.
