Freedom of the Seas
Sail date: May 24, 2015
Great service, lots of activities to chose from, comfortable rooms with great storage space for a cruise room, impressed with presence of executive staff throughout the cruise, smooth check-in and debarkation, great family experience, highly recommend specialty dining (Chops Grille was great night out for mom and dad while older teens had fun chowing at Johnny Rockets), some gluten free options on buffet (needs improvement) and plenty of gluten free accommodations made in the main dining and specialty restaurants, quality entertainment/shows, has something for everyone
Disney Dream
Sail date: March 04, 2016
This was definitely the cleanest ship we've ever been on. Service was excellent. Stateroom was especially nice and roomy. They were very accommodating of my need for gluten free food. Highly recommend the Rainforest experience for couples in the spa. A wonderful weekend getaway to celebrate our 25th.
Cruise tips
Loved the jet ski tour to Sting Ray City and then Snorkeling. Had the driver drop us at 7 Mile Beach on the return and enjoyed a couple of hours there before catching a cab back to port.
Took ship's excursion to Playa Mia. The buffet is not impressive - as much American picnic food as Mexican and not great quality at that. Really enjoyed the floating in the sea though - beautiful water and very relaxing. Although it was supposed to be all-inclusive, they still try to sell you massages, photos or extra services. A friendly no thanks usually sends them away.
Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)
Had limited time here due to taking a passenger to the hospital the first night, but it was a beautiful private beach area. Would've enjoyed a relaxing day here.
Thoroughly enjoyed tubing excursion down the river. Tour guide was informative and professional. River guides were very good. Did not like the extra stops made at Columbus Historic Site (very hokey) with the people sitting around smoking pot. We asked the guide to skip the last stop at a local market also.
Freedom of the Seas
Drink packages paid off for those who either like sodas and Starbucks or who drink alchohol. Can get free cups of water/tea/coffee, sandwiches, pastries in Café Promenade. At $6 each, my older teens had a blast pigging out at Johnny Rockets. Look for small gluten free section on buffet.
