Most sophisticated & utmost relaxing cruise on earth.

Ship: Queen Mary 2
Sail Date: May 02, 2013

Starting from New York LGA airport, Cunard's Queen Mary 2 staff made sure that me and my wife did not have any problems whatsoever, from booking of this cruise to our return, including our luggage, transportation to QM2 ship. From boarding the ship, breakfast, lunch, dinner, entertainment, gambling, shopping, flexible use of our shipboard credit, till we finally docked at our final destination after 7 days of Atlantic Crossing at UK's Southampton port, we had the best time of our life and were treated royally throughout our journey. And at the end of journey, we took our prearranged transfer to London's Heathrow airport to take our BA flight back to Houston, TX and from their to San Antonio, TX, USA. We sincerely thank Our Cunard's Cruise consultant Valerie Pawlik and Mr. Erwin Ward of Cruises only in bookings, room and meals selection etc.and in making this journey as the most memorable for ever for both of us.

High level service

Ship: Queen Elizabeth
Sail Date: Jan 20, 2013

This ship demands high level. For example, tuxedos are expected at dinner on four of the nights. Other nights require men to wear at least a coat, and some times tie. No informal nights for dinner were allowed including the last night. The tours were well handled and the "help" were very good, going out of their way to insure that all details were taken care of. We especially enjoyed the lectures from well known people who knew what they were talking about.

QE Experience

Ship: Queen Elizabeth
Sail Date: Jan 20, 2013

The two most frustrating events on a cruise are embarking and disembarking. Cunard handled them flawlessly. I loved the Queen Elizabeth - a grand ship with no neon, flashing lights, or loud rap music. The ship is done in serene colors and a lot of beautiful teak wood. Very relaxing and restful. It's a very sophisticated ship with activities for adults who don't want to see any wet t-shirt contests on board. It was perfect for me and my companion. I also appreciated the fact that we dressed for dinner - it made each meal special. Cunard is my kind of cruise line. You are handled with kid gloves. C

another satisfied Cunard customer

Ship: Queen Mary 2
Sail Date: Nov 20, 2012

Having cruised the Caribbean on NCL and the Mediterranean on Costa, this cross Atlantic cruise was an amazing journey. The class of this ship is every where: classy diners and balls, informative lectures, the movies in the planetarium and amazing food. We appreciated the well appointed large library located on the bow of the ship (8th deck) with comfortable armchairs and large windows providing beautiful vistas. This a ship for grow-ups.

Why Fly Home?

Ship: Queen Mary 2
Sail Date: Jun 10, 2012

You can be as busy or as lazy as you want. The entertainment and activities were great. Loved the watercolor class each day! And we loved the laundry!, After nine weeks traveling and lots of hand washing, our clothes needed a good wash, and it was free / even the laundry soap was complimentary. As a result, we came home with all clean clothes to put away. The beds and linens were yummy, afternoon tea is a must, and we loved all the specialty rooms hidden around the ship. Since the two of us always buy three seats on the plane, this was even cheaper than flying. We won't fly across the Atlantic again.

My title was not long enough

Ship: Queen Mary 2
Sail Date: Apr 26, 2012

HUGE The speakers were fantastic. Especially nice when we had only 1.5 hours of sun on this 7-day cruise. This I think helps explain why the trough (i.e. buffet) was so crowded because few people were out on deck.

A great cruise!

Ship: Queen Victoria
Sail Date: Feb 14, 2012

The "Queen Victoria" did not have an "enclosed" swimming pool. In a nutshell, if the weather was inclement -- and there were several rainy days -- you could not use the pool. The Card Room was reserved for Bridge players only in the morning and afternoons. Since the ship did not have facilities for those who may wish to play another card game, we needed to play in the lounges.

Lap of Luxury

Ship: Queen Victoria
Sail Date: Jan 19, 2012

This cruise exceeded our expectations. We felt in the Lap of Luxury the entire voyage. The crew is very hard working and made you feel like a valued guest at all times. There was never any "attitude" that you sometimes encounter -- except from some of the other passengers! All in all, the most relaxing vacation.

Cunard could do better

Ship: Queen Mary 2
Sail Date: Dec 12, 2011

Food in main dining room was rather poor with only fair choices and portions were ridiculously small. The guy next to me ordered a pasta meal after he had finished his first entree. Service in buffet area poor. You had to get up to get a second cup of coffee.

Overview of Cunard

What We Love

  • Traditional style of British cruising is a staple on year-round transatlantic crossings between New York and Southampton.
  • High tea served daily by white-gloved staff.
  • Ballroom dancing with a 17-piece orchestra.
  • Spa and salon operated by Canyon Ranch.

What To Expect

  • Fellow passengers: Transatlantic crossings are roughly half English, half American and consist mainly of couples (with a few children). On world cruises, passengers are 65+. Europe cruises are largely British.
  • Atmosphere: Staid and reserved, even in lounges and bars.
  • Dining: Cunard still maintains its three-class system based on how much you pay. Queen's Grill and Princess Grill are small single-seating restaurants with the best food and service. Everyone else dines in the Britannia dining room, which is assigned seating. Food is far from gourmet but good enough.
  • Staterooms: Most cabins are Britannia class (159 sq. ft. outside). Ocean view cabins (with port holes) are 159 sq. ft. Princess Grill Suites are 381 sq. ft., while Queen Grill staterooms range from 506 to 2249 sq. ft.
  • Entertainment: These are not ships for gamblers since casinos are miniscule and little used. The pub, however, is large and lively. During the day, you can take Cha Cha classes, study water painting and listen to lectures given by Oxford dons. During the evening, attend a West End show in the elegant theater, join a darts competition or go ballroom dancing.

The Fine Print:

Alcohol Policy: One bottle of wine or champagne per person is allowed during embarkation; $20 corkage fee charged for wine/champagne consumed in public areas.

Dress Code: On a typical seven-night cruise, expect three formal evenings (suit or tux for men and and evening dresses for women), two semi-formal evenings (jacket and tie for men and cocktail dress for women) and two elegant casual evenings (slacks, khakis, jeans, and button-downs for men, and casual dresses, skirts and blouses for women).

Gratuities: $11 to $13 per person, per day (depending on stateroom category) charged to shipboard account, and covers tips for all service staff.

Children's Program: Evening nursery for children aged 12 to 23 months; supervised activities for other children throughout the day.

Smoking Policy: Smoking is prohibited in staterooms, private balconies, and public areas. There are designated smoking areas on deck.

Onboard Activities: High tea, lectures, planetarium, bridge and dance lessons.

Sitting just off the gorgeous Yucatan coast, Cozumel revels in its mythic white-sand beaches and world-class coral reefs.
